Marchmont Community Centre:
visit to Bletchley Park and a free lunch this April

This April the Marchmont Community Centre’s programme of activities for the over 60s includes a talk about Bletchley Park on Tuesday 7th April followed by a minibus day trip to visit the site on Tuesday 14th April, and a report by Diane on her trip to Ceesay Nursery School in the Gambia (left) on Friday 17th, in addition to the regular activities and lunch club (see special offer for newcomers and menus below).

Regular activities include the knitting group on Thursday mornings, computer club on Wednesdays, a garden centre trip, the film club at 2.30pm on 15th and 22nd April at 2.30pm, bridge and other card and board games from 1.45pm on Mondays and bingo on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

Health activities include a talk and taster session on natural arthritis pain management and control at 10.30am on Wednesday 8th, Pilates classes on the 14th, 21st and 28th of April, and you can book a physical therapy session for injury or aromatherapy massage. The gentle exercise class restarts on 29th April.

Lunch club provides a two course hot meal for just £4, from 12.30-1.30pm each day, and is open to anyone aged over 55 who wants to eat well and socialise. The food is homemade, freshly cooked and delicious. Contact Diane Fisher to book by email or phone 020 7278 5635. Menus for the week beginning 27th April are:

Monday 27th: Smoked mackerel, baked potatoes & coleslaw, Profiteroles

Tuesday 28th: Sausage and butternut squash bake, Baked apple and custard

Wednesday 29th: Lasagne and salad, Panna cotta and fruit compote

Thursday 30th: Chicken green curry and steamed rice, Stewed prunes and custard

Friday 1st May: Shepherd’s pie, Chocolate fondant & ice cream

Please note that there will be no lunch on Monday 4th May because of the bank holiday or on Thursday 7th May as the Marchmont Community Centre will be open as a polling station all day.

If you need to cancel your lunch,  please call before 10.30am and we will then credit you for the following meal.
